Data Processing Technology
MISSION
Our society has become dependent on personal computers. Many of our daily activities involve the use of computers. In order for them to assist people, data must be entered into the computers. The process of entering data into a computer system is called data entry.
The Data Processing Technology program prepares the student to perform the various data entry programs and systems commonly found in today’s workplace.
WHO MAY ENROLL
Interested persons who are at least 18 years old with an employment objective may apply for admission.
ENROLLMENT SCHEDULE
Students are placed on a waiting list according to date of application and testing are enrolled as vacancies occur.
TRAINING SCHEDULE
Day program: 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday
COST OF TRAINING
The estimated cost of this program is $1354. This includes books, supplies, and quarterly fees (tuition).
UNITS OF STUDY
The Data Processing Technology training course covers a broad range of duties. The course is designed to give the student skill and knowledge in the areas of keyboarding and data entry on IBM compatible computers and applications with a broad range of software (Dbase, Windows, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word). Students also train in the concepts of customer service. Performance standards are set to prepare students for positions as data entry/computer operators.
LENGTH OF COURSE
Course length is 8 months (2 trimesters) 864 clock hours. Instructional time, however, will vary depending upon student’s keyboarding skills or previous training/experience when entering the program.
