Aviation Maintenance Technology
MISSION
The Aviation Maintenance Technology program is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved PART 147 school designed to prepare the student for the FAA Airframe and/or Power plant examination.
COURSE OF STUDY
The combined Airframe and Powerplant course consists of the following:
- GENERAL Subjects 400 hours
- AIRFRAME Subjects 750 hours
- POWER PLANT Subjects 750 hours
- EXAMINATION Preparation - 18 hours
- TOTAL: 1918 hours
The individual Airframe or Powerplant course consists of the following:
- GENERAL Subjects 400 hours
- AIRFRAME or POWER PLANT Subjects 750 hours
- EXAMINATION Preparation - 9 hours
- TOTAL: 1159 hours
At least 50% of instructional time is spent on shop projects. This provides the student "hands-on" experience in the repair and alteration of the various aircraft systems and components found in airframes, reciprocating and turbine engines.
ENROLLMENT and TRAINING SCHEDULE
This program has an open enrollment. Students may enroll, with some exceptions, anytime during the year. Please contact the Aviation Maintenance Technology department for information.
Students who have attended another FAA Part 147 school may transfer hours received for credit. Credit also may be allowed for students who have attended institutions of higher learning or vocational trade schools or have documented aviation "on the job" training.
Military personnel and veterans with military aircraft maintenance experience may receive credit for all or part of the general, airframe and powerplant courses upon review of their military DD-214.
COST
The estimated cost of the program should be less than $6,000. This includes quarterly fees (tuition), books, supplies, and tools which are necessary for training and eventual employment.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Age: Must be 18 years of age or older
- Education: Must have High School diploma or GED
- Interview: Prospective students will be interviewed by the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program Coordinator.
- Language Requirement: Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language as required by FAR Part 65.71 (2).
FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Course hours: 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday
