Ollie Otter visits Stanford Montessori
Ollie Otter Visit
Julie Brewer and mascot, Ollie Otter, is part of the Tennessee Road Builders Association’s initiative to bring awareness to Tennessee’s young children about the need to wear seatbelts. Ollie Otter visit locations such as schools, churches, and before/after care programs geared toward children. Ollie and his assistant present the importance of seatbelt safety on a level that young children can most definitively understand.
Recently, the Tennessee Technology Center at Nashville had four volunteer students from the Early Childhood Education program accompany Ms. Brewer and Ollie to visit the students at Stanford Montessori Elementary school. The TTCN students did a marvelous job assisting Ms. Brewer. Although they had more fun helping Ollie convey the simple message of wearing your seatbelt. TTCN, with Ollie’s help, entertained and taught the entire student body of Stanford Elementary Montessori School.
Currently, TTCN has an Ollie Otter mascot suit and is ready to make additional visits, but we need volunteers. Should you wish to get involved in this fun-filled, lifesaving program, please see Julie Jackson in Student Services.
Early Childhood Education students participating in the Ollie Otter presentation were Brianna Gothard, Ashley Franklin, Carlesha Bogle, and Tremaine Rutherford.
