Admission to the Tennessee Technology Center at Nashville

The Tennessee Board of Regents establishes the admission requirements for age, status, counseling and testing. TTCN maintains an open-door policy for admission into occupational programs. However, educational requirements for admission vary from program to program. Due to licensing requirements, some of our programs require a regular high school diploma or GED.

Application Procedure

  1. Complete an application for enrollment.
  2. Submit the completed application to Student Services and obtain a testing date. Foreign students must present proof of permanent residency in the U.S.
  3. Return to the school to take the admissions test. After testing, the applicant is requested to visit the training program(s) of choice to meet the instructor and discuss course requirements and training costs. After exploration of occupational programs, the applicant will discuss his/her career objective with Student Services personnel to define his/her career objective. Enrollment schedules and options will also be provided to the applicant.
  4. Submit an official transcript of previous education earned from high school or other schools. If a GED was earned, a copy of the GED scores is required.
  5. The applicant will be notified when a vacancy occurs.

General Admission Policies

Persons seeking admission to the Center must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate. Applicant must complete an enrollment application and provide TTCN with copies of high school transcript/diploma, college transcript/diploma or GED scores.

Students must declare an occupational objective and demonstrate through a skills assessment reasonable potential for achieving that objective. All new students are strongly encouraged to attend new student orientation. The objective of orientation is to provide an understanding of the institution’s philosophy, purpose, organization and understanding of the schools policies and procedures.

Selective Service

The United States Selective Service requires that all male U.S. citizens or immigrants at least eighteen years of age but less than twenty-six years of age register with Selective Service for potential military draft. Failure to register with the Selective Service is a felony. This information is required on the TTCN enrollment application when applying for admission to the Center.
